January 2008: Start of Residency (Medical Specialist) training in Surgery and Pediatrics.
August 2009: Start of Residency training in Ob/Gyn.
2014-2015: New Curriculum for the residency–training-programm.
Mission:
– Train Eritrean physicians, as medical educators and leaders, to ensure sustainability.
– Strengthen and expand Residency training programs in the country.
– Minimize Brain Drain by creating meaningful professional and personal opportunities.
ASMARA COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES (ACHS)
1995: The College of Health Sciences (CHS) was established at the University of Asmara.
2005: The CHS was renamed Asmara College of Health Sciences (ACHS) and re-established as an independent college.
Mission:
– Producing competent health professionals and scholars.
– Expanding knowledge through research and applying this knowledge to health care.
SCHOOL OF NURSING (SON)
1955: Start of Nursing Education (Hospital Based Diploma Program under the Ministry of Health).
1996-2003: Public Health Nurse Practitioner 5 years Degree Program, CHS.
2012: Training of nurses at bachelor degree and diploma levels in different fields of nursing.

– Provide need driven high quality education to render services to individuals, families and communities.
